چکیده
حضور ایران در عمان و سوریه طی نیم قرن گذشته از نشانگان افزایش قدرت و نفوذ منطقهای سیاست خارجی ایران تلقی شده است. این مقاله با بهرهگیری از دادههای مستند، منابع دست اول و روش اسنادی و تحلیل پسارویدادی مبتنی بر روش مقایسهای در پی پاسخ به این پرسش است که چرا ایران طی نیم قرن اخیر در بحرانهای دو کشور عربی عمان و سوریه حضور یافت و این حضور نظامی چه دستاوردی برای منافع ملی ایران داشته است؟ یافتههای پژوهش نشان میدهد با وجود تفاوتهای ماهوی نظام بینالملل و رژیم سیاسی حاکم بر کشور طی نیم قرن گذشته، حضور نظامی ایران در قلمرو پادشاهی عمان و جمهوری عربی سوریه در پرتو استلزامات حاصل از محاصره ژئوپولیتکی و لزوم خنثیسازی تهدیدات محیط پیرامونی در مرزهای خارج از کشور بوده است. این مقاله همچنین با استفاده از آموزههای نظریه رئالیسم و بهرهگیری از مفهوم دفاع آفندی نشان میدهد دستاورد این حضور برون مرزی ایران در مورد بحران عمان جلوگیری از به خطر افتادن امنیت انرژی کشور و ممانعت از تهدید گسترش خطر کمونیسم در منطقه خلیج فارس و در مورد بحران سوریه پاسداری از تمامیت ارضی و خنثیسازی قابل توجه تهدید ژئوپولیتیکی رادیکالیسم سلفی در منطقه غرب آسیا بوده است.
