چکیده
پیوستار قدرت در سیاست خارجی دربرگیرنده قدرت سخت (اجبارآمیز، بی‌واسطه و فیزیکی) و قدرت نرم (غیرمستقیم و بلندمدت و تکیه بر مجاب‌سازی تا زور) است. برای برساختن پیوستار قدرت در سیاست خارجی از نوشتار کریستوفر هیل بهره‌گیری و سپس نوشتارهای محمدعلی فروغی- از بازیگران اصلی سیاست در عصر پهلوی اول- بازخوانی شد. پرسش اساسی مقاله این بود که کدام‌یک از جنبه‌های پیوستار قدرت در سیاست خارجی، بیشتر طرف توجه فروغی بود؟ نوشتار بر این فرضیه استوار شد که توجه محمدعلی فروغی در پیوستار قدرت، به ابعاد نرم قدرت در سیاست خارجی ایران بوده است. او با آگاهی از شرایط زمانه و معرفت از نظام بین‌الملل دانسته بود که ایران در ابعاد سخت پیوستار قدرت، توانایی معطوف به عمل ندارد. این پژوهش بر اساس ماهیت و روش، تاریخی-تبیینی است.
