چکیده
مقالۀ حاضر از طریق به‌کارگیری رهیافت نوکارکردگرایی و با تأکید بر تعارض‌های ساختاری و محیطی، زمینه‌های واگرایی در سازمان همکاری اسلامی را مورد بحث قرار می‌دهد. سازمان همکاری اسلامی بعد از سازمان ملل بزرگ‌ترین سازمان جهانی منطقهای است، با این وجود برخلاف بسیاری از سازمان‌های منطقهای همچون اتحادیۀ اروپا، اتحادیۀ آفریقا در طول حیات خود عمیقاً از کارکرد ضعیف رنج برده است. با عبور از سطوح سازمانی به چالش‌های منطقهای و بین‌المللی، یافته‌های این مقاله نشان می‌دهد که تشکلی به نام سازمان همکاری اسلامی به‌رغم تبلیغات ایدئولوژیک، کارکرد خود را از دست داده و ناهمگونی اعضا با رویکردهای متعدد دربارۀ سیاست، فرهنگ و اقتصاد، به‌ویژه در دهۀ اخیر و در مواجهه با چالش‌های نوظهور ناشی از جهانی‌شدن فرهنگ و سیاست، امکان همکاری در شکل اتحادیه‌ای اسلامی را برای کشورهای مسلمان از بین برده است. تحلیل نهایی این پژوهش آن است که کشورهای اسلامی در دهه‌های پیش‌رو ترجیح خواهند داد به سازمان‌هایی با گرایش‌های اقتصادی مشترک بپیوندند.
