چکیده

ارائۀ تصویری مطلوب از کشور و کسب وجهه و حیثیت بین‌المللی، از خواسته‌های مهم دولت‌ها در عرصۀ بین‌الملل و راهکاری مفید در جهت پیشبرد اهداف دیپلماسی آن‌ها، به‌حساب می‌آید. مقامات دولتی در کشورهای مختلف در پی آنند تا ضمن ارتقای ابعاد مثبت وجهۀ بین‌المللی‌شان، به تثبیت موقعیت جهانی خود نیز بپردازند. رشد چشم‌گیر و خیزش ناگهانی اقتصاد چین از یک طرف باعث افزایش قدرت ملی آن و از طرف دیگر باعث تقویت «چین‌هراسی» و ارائۀ تصویری تهدیدآمیز از چین، از سوی قدرت‌های جهانی شد. درمقابل چینی‌ها، برای مقابله با تئوری تهدید و خنثی‌سازی موج «چین‌هراسی»، سعی نمودند با بهره‌گیری از «دیپلماسی عمومی» تصویری صلح‌آمیز و همکاری‌طلب از کشور خود ارائه دهند. حال نویسندگان قصد دارند با روش تحلیل کیفی داده‌ها در چهارچوب دیپلماسی عمومی و تصویرسازی به این پرسش پاسخ گویند که: «دیپلماسی عمومی» چگونه به تغییر تصویر منفی چین در نزد افکار عمومی جهان کمک کرد؟؛ به نظر می‌رسد که این کشور با تمرکز و برندسازی در حوزه‌های فرهنگی، آموزشی و گردشگری، توانسته یک تصویر خوب از خود را جایگزین تصویر منفی‌ای کند که توسط رقبایش به افکار عمومی خارجی ارائه شده است.
